In the quiet corners of Wabigalo, Nsambya, and Lukuli-Bbina, far from the noise of central Kampala, live the often-overlooked elderly—those who once raised families, built homes, and shaped communities. Now, many sit alone, frail, forgotten, and in urgent need of care, comfort, and connection.
Mulungi MobileMedics Initiative (MMI) visits these elders in their private homes and local elderly shelters, offering more than just food packages or medication. We sit with them. We listen. We learn. In some cases, they share powerful stories about floods, soil erosion, or disappearing wetlands they once farmed—a real glimpse into how climate change is affecting lives across generations.
These sessions often turn into communal gatherings where we discuss practical ways to reduce plastic waste, sort household garbage, or restore local greenery—with elders contributing local wisdom. “Mu kiseera kyafe, twakozanga ebikozesebwa okuddamu” (In our time, we reused everything), one jajja shared, reminding us that sustainability isn’t new—it’s just been forgotten.
Through your donations and partnership, MMI provides nutritious meals, warm clothing, bedding, basic medical checkups, and human companionship to elders who need it most. And more importantly, we are working to include them in shaping grassroots solutions to environmental crises affecting their homes and communities.
Because aging should never mean being invisible—and the environment should never be healed without those who’ve lived longest with it.
